Default Tail Light / Brake Light

Need wiring help. I bought a two way, tail light and brake light, led for the rear of my cart. Wired it up and the brake light works, the running light works, but when I put on my blinker it works thru the system. This light was purchased to use only as a upper running light and a brake light, no blinkers needed.

Question is does the running light portion of the light need to go straight to the light switch to work without interference from the blinkers?

How did You connect it to the brake light?

The brake light and the turn signals are the same light and they are independent on each side.

The only way to have a 3rd brake light come ON only when the brakes are ON is to wire it directly to the +12v from the brake pedal mechanical switch or relay if pressure switch.

You could also wire the 3rd brake light to the rear brake lights with diodes, but it will flash with the turn signal when the brake is not applied.

You would wire the diode side with without the stripe (anode) towards the positive activation of each brake light, both cathodes (side with the stripe) are connected together to the positive wire of the 3rd brake light.

The running lights positive wire can be wired directly to the 12v converter so it is ON anytime the key switch is ON, or to either tail light positive wire so it only comes ON when the tail lights are ON.

And where would you tie in the running light part of the light? Under the dash at the light pull switch?

If Your converter comes ON with the key switch and you want to use the light as a rear DRL (that is how I have mine), just plug it directly to converter output/fuse box.

If You want it to come ON only when the headlight is ON, then run it to the light switch or to the brown wire on either tail light.

If I use the brown tail light wire will the blinker effect the running light?

The turn signal shares a filament/LED with the brake light.

Yellow wire on passenger side, white wire on the driver side.

The running lights/tailights are connected togheter and use the brown wires.

This light requires between 9 and 16 volts, will the brown wire do the trick?

Your cart lights should be running on 12v, so it will work.

Thanks a ton Sergio, got it done. Went to the rear brown for the running lights and went to the #1 tab on the brake light timer switch and all is good. I think my problem was a grounding one. If I used a battery for ground, no go. When I picked up the rear taillight ground, all was well...

You are a great help and a asset to the site...thanks again...
