Extended shackles on Club Car DS
Hello,
Thanks to the help of many of you, I've decided to pu on some extended shackles on my DS to give it a little lift. To that, I'm wondering how long the OWM shackles are typically? I bought some from another member off here, and he said the ones I was buying were 6.5", but these are almost 6"! Are these normal? Also, in this procedure, I only replace the rear set of shackles, right? Not the ones on the front of the rear leaf springs (under the batteries?) |

Re: Extended shackles on Club Car DS
nnmsgst,
Yes you only change the ones at the rear of the leaf spring. The front of the leaf spring is your pivot point. I don't know if the ones in your picture are factory, or not. But I do think you have heavy duty springs, I think the factory spring was a single leaf. Aflyer |

Re: Extended shackles on Club Car DS
I could be wrong, but the ones pictured look to be stock shackles,
I don't have this cart anymore, so I can't measure them for you, but these are stock height shackles... The extended shackles I have on my gasser are 7" hole to hole! |

Re: Extended shackles on Club Car DS
I'm in the process of installing these extended shackles. See the pic below. Do I have to do anything to compress this spring to remove the OEM shackles? Once I pull these bolts won't the spring straighten out preventing me from realigning the holes?

Re: Extended shackles on Club Car DS
No. Lift the frame/cart until the wheel just touches to floor, then pull your bolt out.

Re: Extended shackles on Club Car DS
Thanks to all for the help. I installed longer shackles and a 1" front block lift from TahoeDawg in about 30 mins. Easiest upgrade ever.
