Battery meter - 2008+ precedent with plug and play light kit and Voltage Reducer

While I have the floor covering out to install my Plug and Play Red Hawk LED Street Package Lights and signals and RHOX 48V to 12V reducer to my 4X12 battery system, I want to also run the wires and install a battery meter. I know the instructions will probably tell me to hook one wire to the key switch. With the light package utilizing the LGT-396, LGT-696 and VOLT-0015 harnesses, will I still just take the wires to the Pos. and Neg. on batteries and the key switch, or will I plug somewhere into the harnesses?

I've not found many videos covering the precedent with the plug and play connections.

I wire mine into the red and black wires from the stock harness. They function only when the cart is in run and it’s a great reminder on the dash that tells you if you’ve flipped the switch or not. Wiring into the key prevents you from having or ever installing a kill switch which uses the key switch wires.
