Default 2006 club car how do i test the voltage out put

what is the best setting on my volt meter and how do i test that the voltage out put is correct.

On a voltmeter you always want to set the meter to a range above the voltage you are testing.

For testing 12V you would use the 20V scale.
For 36V or 48V you would use the 200V scale.

I don't know what you mean by testing output. Do you mean the battery pack ?
