My carburetor spacer bolt snapped of flush on the carb side and about 1/16 inch sticking out on the other side... Any ideas?

Re: Carburetor spacer bolt
Yep, the spacer breaks pretty easy. Good thing they are only about $15.

Re: Carburetor spacer bolt
You mean broken off in the head, not the plastic spacer? You sheared off 2 phillips head screws? That takes skills...

Re: Carburetor spacer bolt
The threads were supposed to be M6-1.0, like many bolts on yamahas. Get all the plastic air shrouds off first, then heat & oil are your friends. In an aluminum head with an aluminum block, this is gonna be tough to do with the head still on the engine.

Re: Carburetor spacer bolt
If you can, try to center punch it first. Then a left handed drill bit usually will pull it right out.

Re: Carburetor spacer bolt
Finding something short enough to get in to drill it is my project for the weekend, I'll work on drilling it Sunday

Re: Carburetor spacer bolt
You can buy left hand drill bits cheap at Harbor Freight. Those bolts are only torqued to about 3 pounds. I'd try taking a center punch, starting at the edge of the bolt, trying to back it out.
Good luck!! |
