Default Re: Hey all! Speed up my G9

You could try a 1 1/4 belt it might help speed IF your sheaves are worn. They get dished out (the aluminum sides) and the wider belt makes up for it. You can try modding the clutches to get the belt out of the primary more and inside the secondary more. I ground my primary sheave inside so it would close more. This only gives you a little anyway. Also make sure the primary does not have a lip at the top or the belt will not go all the way up. Otherwise you need HS gears, that is the way to go. They are a few hundred but will add 10mph to your cart just like that.

You can run the governor all the way in, it will make your throttle cable not last as long because there is more pressure on it. I would adjust the valve lash and run offroad oil or put a zinc additive in it. The automotive (on road) oils took most of the zinc out and splash engines need it more than pressure lube engines. You can use lawn/racing/dirt bike oils. I run cheap synthetic and a zinc additive. Ran my G9 like that for over ten years no governor wound it up to 28mph (gps on a dirt drive, with 22" tires) about every time I ran it. Finally had to put a clone in it a few years ago it started smoking. I trail rode that cart at times up to 6 hours a trip.
