You guys would have better luck getting answers to your questions if you start a thread in the body and paint section of the design center thread.

Have not seen mention of it so not if it is needed.
Any recommendation if a flex additive is suggested for painting the plastic nody parts?

I personally do not put flex additive in the paint when I do golf carts. That is not to say you couldn't but there are only a couple areas on a body that could flex enough to crack the paint. This is just my personal preference though.

My '83 G1 and I thank you Master, and all others, for this excellent thread!
I've learned a wealth of information for my paint project. I was so used to painting metal and wood, I would have overlooked a few steps.
Especially the adhesion promoter area. Mine wasn't done right, and if I push on the front cowl, the paint literally cracks and falls off. Must've used cheap rattle can paint.
So, once again thank all of you for my daily schooling!
You rock!!!

Master66, I followed all your advice on the preparation work on painting a cart. For my first paint job I think It turned out pretty good. Had a little trouble with the clear coat but It buffed out ok.

I am starting another rebuild. This body is not bad but it does have holes in the front body (Club Car DS). What would you recommend to repair these small holes. Some one installed head lights. 5/16 holes. Thanks again for the great write up.

I have a question:

Had to sand down some runs and issues with paint job, sanded the entire thing up and painted a new base coat on. Unfortunately... some of the spots where the plastic had been exposed from the sanding came out very bad. I knew I should have hit it with Plastic Adhesion Promoter, but I wasn't sure what would happen if the adhesion promoter got onto the sanded down basecoat.

Does anyone have experience with this and what should I have done to ensure those spots came out correctly? i guess also, if i sand those spots down for another coat, how should i do that? I'm new to painting golf carts.

Using a JB basecoat from shopline and JC660 clear coat.

Hey there surgeon.
You could have applied adhesion promoter to the bare plastic areas as it would not have hurt the already cured paint. Can you include some pictures of the bad areas to see what we are dealing with. We then could probably help you to get back on track.
