I would agree that a battery it's in backwards my guess, will wait to see the results on this one.

Hey everyone,

I got some more background on the issue today. Seems as though when we got the batteries the red wire coming off of the charging receptacle was placed on the second battery in series and it was just moved to the first battery in series yesterday. After an overnight charge the battery is now reading at 5.6 volts and it is running like a champ.

So the initial diagnoses was correct- it was just on the wrong battery.
