Default How fast should my Club Car go?

Good day,

I just bought a 2002 Club Car DS, 48vlt. It has a D.C. series wound motor rated at 5.5hp/4700rpm, heavy duty solenoid, Alltrax 400 amp speed controller and 4awg cables. It goes about 16 mph. Is anyone familiar with what speed it should be doing? Is 16 mph the norm or should it go faster with the current set up? This is a non programmable CC, Thanks.

This cart originally had a 3.5 hp motor and went 12-14mph. (like all golf carts do)

My "stock" DS limo does 21mph on flat ground. Only thing I've done is 20.5" diameter tires.

Thanks, I guess I need to keep digging to see what may be holding it back. Can one purposely dial the speed down? For instance adhering to speed restrictions in a community.

Stock limo never meant for golf.... may have the same 10:1 gears the Pathway has? Anyway your cart is certainly the exception not the rule for speed.

The old series cart isn't gonna do 21 in your current config. About 18 is top end. But you could replace the motor and speed her up.
