2002 Club Car DS has no power, batteries and MCOR good
I have a 2002 Club Car DS with a Power Drive System 48. The batteries are good, replaced the old MCOR with a new one. The golf cart will still only go between 5 and 8 mph. I was told it could be the speed sensor but can not locate it. Any suggestions? I have another cart just like it that runs great and I can swap parts. Thinking about swapping the electric motor.

Let's start with identifying the drive system. What's the vehicle serial number?

You may not be able to find the speed sensor because it may not have one. First we must determine series/sepex. |

It's a series car. Series drive systems do not use speed sensors. That's why you can't find one. Check the MCOR frequency. Locate the motor controller. You'll see three small wires plugged into it. Red-Green-Yellow on posts 1-2-3. Unplug the green and yellow. Get an electrical multimeter and insert the leads of the meter into the ends of the green and yellow wires you unplugged. Set the meter to 20k ohms. With the key on and the switch in forward, Slowly depress the accelerator. You should see a range of 6800 ohms at zero throttle down to 1100 ohms at full throttle. If you're not getting all the way down to near 1100 your pedal linkage may be worn out. Depending on how bad it is, you may be able to shim it. If it's real bad, you're looking at replacing the accelerator blocks and the pivot rod. Let me know what you find and I will steer you in the right direction.

Ok, just tested the MCOR frequency and the lowest it would go was 1350. I had previously read about the pedal linkage and had put a zip tie on it and that was how it was tested. Also I know for sure it is not the electric motor because I swapped it out yesterday with one I knew was good. No change. Thanks for your help!

1350ohms is pretty close to full throttle. It's not 100 percent, but it's close enough to allow you to get speeds more than 5-8 miles per hour. At this point I would suspect that the controller output has gotten weak. It may be time to replace it.

I already swapped that also. I took it off a club car just like this one that runs great. Both of the controllers worked perfectly on the other car. I am at a complete loss!

Does it roll freely when you push it by hand? Maybe your brakes are dragging or your tire pressure is low. Check the simple stuff and report back.
