Charger details
My '99 DS has been sitting for a few months (right after installing new batteries), and I had to move it yesterday and the warning light came on. I plugged in the trusty Power Drive charger, and no click.
I don't see anything obvious in the charger, but without knowing how the OBC talks to the charger, it's a little mysterious. The crappy schematic I've found online for the charger makes it look like the blue wire from the cart controls the relay. When I measure the charging connector on the cart (with no charger), I get 47v between + and -, and 12v on the control line. When I plug in the charger, the voltage I measure inside the charger is only 35V, so something non-obvious is happening. It got dark before I could do any more, so I'm not positive the control line is still on when the cable is connected. Can someone explain the theory of operation of the charging system? A better quality schematic would be nice too! I'll have to take the charger 50 miles to a dealer to see if the charger is good or not. |

Re: Charger details
the OBC controls the charger , as you drive your OBC monitors the amount of volts you use and when you plug the cart in it tells the charger how much energy it needs for a full charge
if it is left for a while it may need to be reset try resetting the OBC Quote:
if it starts let it go till it shuts off if it still does not start let us know and we can do other tests 95 to 03 48V color coded diagram: Last edited by crash test dummy; 02-15-2016 at 08:50 PM.. Reason: my spelling sux |
