Re: Hello, New to Forums
Thank You JohnnieB for your help on this, i ordered a new controller and in fact it was the controller that was bad. Now that i have everything hooked up, it wont move, lol. Motor sounds like its running, but it sounds like a gear issue in the rear end. Not sure yet. It wants to move but just barely.

Re: Hello, New to Forums
Sounds like striped splines in rear hubs.
Pull off any wheel/dust covers so you can see castle nuts holding hubs on. Have someone watch the castle nuts while someone else tries to drive cart. If either hub doesn't move, but castle nut turns, the hubs are bad. Replace both even though only one slips, because the other going bad isn't far behind. |

Re: Hello, New to Forums
Thanks again JohnnieB, you are absolutely correct. The passenger side hub was stripped out. Kinda strange, when i pulled the drivers side off, it looked liked someone just replaced it. Looked brand new. Thank again though, you have helped out alot. Im hoping this is it and it will finally move.

Re: Hello, New to Forums
The previous owner must have only replaced one when the driver side hub failed and you inherited his unwillingness to repair it properly (IE: Replace both hubs when one goes bad) But you are only finishing the repair he started, so just replacing the bad hub might be okay if the splines in newer hub look good. Use an anti-seize compound on the splines and be sure to get the castle nuts tight. The torque spec is something like 140 ft/lb, so lean into it. Note: The battery terminals are just the opposite, most people over-tighten them. Their torque spec is only about 8 ft/lb. |

Hey Johnnie, i was wandering, even though the drivers side hub looked brand new. Shouldnt have that moved the cart? Maybe im wrong, but dont both wheels turn when you press the accelerator?

Re: Hello, New to Forums
An open type differential, like most electric golf carts have, sends all the power to the wheel with the least traction.
Posi-Trac or Limited-Slip differentials, sends the power to both wheels when one slips. |
