Do I need new brushes?
I have a 1980 marathon 36v ezgo. To get it started I sometimes have to rock it back and forth, alternately press the pedals, or rapidly switch the gear lever. Once it starts, it runs great. Someone suggested I should replace the motor brushes - they are very old. Should this solve my problem or might there another solution?

Re: Do I need new brushes?
It's old enough that the brushes might need replacing. Rolling the cart forwards and backwards to get it to go might indicate bad brushes. However, moving the FNR back and forth won't make it go if the brushes are bad, so you may need to do some more trouble-shooting.
If you replace brushes, replace the bearing while you're in there. Instructions below. Owner's, Parts, and Service Manuals: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...g-manuals.html |
