did you check the sonic weld by the reverse speed switch?

No where is that at? In the wire harness?

Re: Help with 2001 Series DS build
The only sonic weld I see is the black/white wire coming off the micro switch 1, welding to the red wire. Is this the one you are talking about?

Re: Help with 2001 Series DS build
If you look at the diagram I posted, is where the 1/2 speed resistor splits from the white wire.

Re: Help with 2001 Series DS build
Found it!!!
OK, this may seem like a nutty question, but what do I need to test about that sonic weld? Do I open it, check the diod if one is present, solder it? I have not dealt with those before. I know I should know by now but I don't. |

Re: Help with 2001 Series DS build
It is a glorified crimp connection that is supposed to fuse the wires together.
I would just pull on each wire to make sure the connection is good. There should be a resistor coming off that connection. That is the most likely place to have the throttle signal drop out. |

OK, thanks. I will look into that in the morning. 14 hour work day is kicking my butt. Thanks for the help and I will report back my findings tomorrow!!

Re: Help with 2001 Series DS build
OK, after fiddling and fussing with the wire harness and sonic weld the cart is dead and no longer has occasional run time. SOOooooooo I ordered a new wire harness.
Any tips, tricks, help, ideas, thoughts......at this point the only components I haven't changed out are the OBC, key switch, and battery light. If a cliff were near by I would start pushing it that way!!!!!! |

Re: Help with 2001 Series DS build
If you refer back to the diagram I posted, just connect the green wire coming from controller terminal #2 directly to the black wire that goes to the MCOR.
That will completely by-pass the half-speed reverse micro switch and send the throttle signal directly to the controller. All of those wires will be near the micro switch #3 You are working with. |
