Dropped a wrench across motor terminals
In, my haste to replace a missing bolt on a Yamaha G16 (Electric), I dropped a wrench across A! and F2 terminals on the motor. Small spark show, now, no run. Do I need a controller? Can this motor be repaired?

Re: Dropped a wrench across motor terminals
You likely killed the controller. You would not have hurt the motor.

Re: Dropped a wrench across motor terminals
Motor = good. Controller = bad.

Re: Dropped a wrench across motor terminals
Lesson learned I'm sure but everyone should see this and make sure that they disconnect the main battery pack before doing any work on a cart. Solid state devices will not withstand even a momentary short if they are energized. (and you can get hurt)

Re: Dropped a wrench across motor terminals
Field wires better never touch armature wires, even with the power disconnected. The residual power in the capacitors can still kill controller.
