Questions regarding CC charger options...
I have considered dumping the OBC and PD charger on my 2008 1/2 Precedent. The stock controller is working just fine and I have no immediate plans to replace it. I just read a recent thread concerning the ERIC charger (I hadn't heard of it prior to that thread...). I've watched a promotional YouTube vid (by CC) of the ERIC charger and it seems to be smaller and intuitive. OTOH, I have read great reviews (from forum members...) concerning the DPI charger and have questions for those in the know:
What are the benefits (if any...) to using this newer ERIC charger as opposed to the DPI charger ? What is the cost difference ? I understand a new wiring harness should be installed to accommodate the ERIC charger, thus adding an additional expense. FWIW...I have no problem or need to make any changes at this point. Simply looking to expand my knowledge base... Thx !!! |

Re: Questions regarding CC charger options...
The Eric charger has a peak output of 13 amps compared to the 17 amp DPI.
Manufactures recommend near 10% of battery capacity for peak output. Which leaves the Eric short on bulk charge amperage. Which could lead to shorter battery life. The DPI has a float or maintenance mode which I do not think I saw in the Eric charger? |
