Shudder is usually bad batteries or bad power connection. CUrrently you may have the solenoid connected incorrectly or the battery(ies) that were acting up died?
Maybe you can post some pics of the solenoid install and we can see something. |

Another cause of a shudder is motor brushes

I also noticed that the resister on the large lugs of the solenoid got really hot what would cause that?

post pics of the solenoid wiring. You probably have it wired incorrectly like Scotty said.

The solenoid on the drivers side my not be working. Connect both of those large cables on the same post and see if it runs correctly then.

Re: 1999 Club Car DS won't go
Thanks, I reworked the wiring to solenoid. The golf cart will go in reverse and forward. It has a bad shutter in both directions. I checked the batteries each has 7.4 for a total of 44.4. Also the golf cart started acting up when it had more weight on it as in 4 people. When we went to just 1 person it worked fine. Now it does the shuttering even with just one. Thanks! Any help is appreciated!!

7.4 is more like a highly charged 6 volt battery (3 filler caps). |

Re: 1999 Club Car DS won't go
Your batteries are not charged 7.4 on each and a pack voltage of 44 is less than 50% charged if I remember correctly (you can find the state of charge guide in the stickies). Charge the cart it may take 14 to 16 hours to get a full charge with the batt's being that depleted. The low batt voltage is what is making the cart shutter.

Re: 1999 Club Car DS won't go
Yes 44v at a standstill may drop below 40v when you press the pedal.
PS Stop trying to go - the solenoid shudder or chatter can be damaging to the solenoid main contacts. Restore proper voltage |
