Re: cold air intake
put a bigger jet in it and some exhaust on it and it should run like a top..... but just a filter will make it run like crap.... if it runs at all.

Re: cold air intake
Well - you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink...
Aftermarket filters on stock engines? I rank these equally with "performance exhausts" for stock motors = nothing but a waste of money... Before I get slammed for this, just look at all the questions and threads about these items! I believe that EXPECTATIONS are too high for these products. AFtermarket filter ideas have benn around the golf industry for longer than most have been out of High School. The idea sounds logical, the look seems to be better, it helps in a car or truck, so why don't any of them work properly on a cart? 9 hp is 9 hp!!! Maybe they are just "described" better than what they "actually" do. Stock box / stock pipe / stock motor = less frustration... 3rd time - put your stock box on and chalk it up to experience... |

Re: cold air intake
I have the Small Cone Filter mounted directly to the carb, and I have the large carb jet. My cart starts just fine. It is not true that they wont start easy just because you change the airbox or any type mods. If it is hard starting when its real cold outside, you might try putting it in nuetral and throw a small rag over part of the intake till it runs a few minutes and then you should be good to go.

But, I will totally disagree with that statement!!! When I first got my '07 cart... one of the first things I did was, I made the baffles in the air box larger... More air, would make it run better and faster??? WRONG!!! The mod made it run like crap! I ended up having to buy a new air box to get it to run properly again! Ranger... you can get a bigger jet, it will help it run better... But. you still won't have a choke when you need it! my .02 |
