Club car precedent brake problem
I lifted a 2004 precedent 6 inches and put madjax timber wolf 22 inch tires on.
After doing this, the brakes weren't very good. I noticed the tension on the drivers side cable. So I bought 2 new passenger side cables and replaced both sides. The brakes didn't want to work very well. I put new brake shoes on it and still no luck. I adjusted the pedal and now if I stomp on the pedal, it will stop but not very crisp. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Re: Club car precedent brake problem
Best choice would be to convert rear brakes to disc brakes...😎

Re: Club car precedent brake problem
It's my 4th cart (did work and some mods on the others) but It's the first cart I ever lifted and the first time I've ever worked on brakes. There was a big difference in braking after the lift. I know it will not stop on a dime but these are dangerously slow to stop. I tried pumping the brakes to get them to adjust but that didn't change it. Maybe I should take the hub off and manually back out the adjustment screw.
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Re: Club car precedent brake problem
How much pedal travel before brakes engage? I had to adjust the pedal travel on mine. They work great.

Re: Club car precedent brake problem
you need to set the brakes adjustments when you change the shoes
use the star adjustment to get a slight resistance on hub while turning |

Re: Club car precedent brake problem
With a manual system you have several adjustments and areas of concern...first...have you inspected the brake shoes to make sure they are not worn-out or installed in-correctly? Second...after getting the adjusting😎 wheel tight enough to just allow the brake drum to be installed...make sure the auto-adjuster is working properly. Third...adjust the brake cable at the 'turn-buckle' to make sure there is no excessive pedal travel caused by to much slack in the cable system.
