Motor compatibility
So I have a few Club Car motors here and I was hoping someone could explain the compatibility from one cart to another
I have a black motor that came out of a newer Precedent. It has a high hat style speed sensor. Will it work on an older DS Also have a grey 48V motor from a DS with a flat speed sensor. And I have a grey 48V motor with no speed sensor. Was this out of an early DS? Can it be used on a cart that currently has a speed sensor? Will these motors interchange on most Club Cars or are the rear ends drastically different? |

Re: Motor compatibility
The first two with speed sensors are Sepex motors and will interchange (that is a GE-Flat and a ADC-Top Hat) with Sepex style carts. Precedent and DS's with speed sensors and IQ style controllers. The last with no speed sensor is a Series motor (could be a 36v or a 48v) and will only work on a Series style cart.

Re: Motor compatibility
So, the grey 48V motor with no speed sensor came on a cart that had a speed sensor plug. However, it was unplugged. The cart was not running when I got it so I dont know if they EVER had it running in this configuration. Can anyone provide an answer as to whether you can run a 48V series motor on a sepex cart without having a speed sensor plugged in?

Re: Motor compatibility
No, you can't run a series motor on a sepex cart. The motors work entirely differently inside.

Re: Motor compatibility
Nope. You would have to change the controllers and harness, while adding some peripherals.
