The regular caps vent a little out of the top and go up in the air... The water fill system has tubes connecting each battery to the one next to it in a chain keeping the gases in the tubes instead of venting up and away...so instead of one battery going boom..you have basically connected them all together via the gases to go boom together...Think of it like a fuse...a single fuse burns away...attach another fuse anywhere in the line of that fuse...it also ignites as the other burns away
