G14 ?'s
Hi guys! Looking for some help/advice. Bought a wrecked snowmobile with the intentions of putting the engine in a cart. A local dealer has a G14 he'd sell me cheap. Looking to do the engine swap, lift it, etc. Anyone out there put a 540 Yamaha engine in one? Front brakes? Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks!

Re: G14 ?'s
Don't know a thing about snow mobiles but sounds like a great project! G14's are a good cart, well just about any Yamaha is good! I like the idea of staying Yamaha! Does the snow motor have the same type of clutch (1 3/16" belt)?
By the way, Welcome to the site! Mike |

Re: G14 ?'s
Thanks Mike. The stock snowmobile belt is about 1 5/16", thinking I may shim the primary to get the spacing for a stock g14 belt or modify/replace the secondary to use the sled belt. It depends on the center to center clutch distance and if the stock g14 belt can handle the 540's power without blowing apart. Trying to stick to a OEM Yamaha belt size either way.
Besides...... sticking anything but a Yamaha in a Yamaha is just wrong!! |

Plowmans, sponsor here, makes a High Performance belt, Kevlar or carbon fiber... Check it out, He claims his are stronger! I have one, but mine is on a stock motor.
