Default Rear axle shaft removal on a g8

I have a friends yamaha g8 at my house that I have been repainting for him. The rear axle shafts are bent because the PO overload it. I have removed the wheels and brake drums. What steps are next to remove the shafts so we can measure them and order some new ones? Do I just need to use some kind of puller or is there something retaining them in the chunk (c-clips)?

Specifics: 1994 yamaha G8E-KP

Thx
JB

Jack up,remove wheels and brake drums. There are 2 holes in the axle flange plate, put one hole at 1:00 o'clock (the other will be 7:00), remove the 12mm head bolts. Rotate the axle so the holes are at 11 and 5 and remove the bolts. Then just tap out the axle with a hammer. No circlips to mess with. Can't beleive the axles are bent, take a real good look at the axle housings where they mount to the center section.

Great that sounds pretty straight forward. I believe it's the shafts because it doesn't rub all the time but as the axle makes a revolution you hear it scrub. The wheels also wobble instead of a steady toe out or in not sure the proper direction on that. This cart has a huge utility bed on the back and has some heavy duty bracing on the axle housing.

Probably to late, but I had a bent axle on my G8 gas. I took the axle to a machine shop, and they straightened it, perfect!!

Not to late yet. Haven't pulled them. The one I'm working does not have the holes you describe. There are four bolts holding the brake backing plate. Had to put it back together to move and will look at it next week.

Pull those 4 bolts, and the axle will come out. Along with the backing plate.

I'd like to see some picture's of the axle/tranny and car. All G8 axles had holes to acsess the bearing retainor/backing plate bolts....or am I going "bonkers" in my old age?

Are G8 battery cars axle's the same as G8 gas? I think mine has 1 hole in the flange of the axle. Nope, 2! Right again Block!!
