Exclamation Help!! Please

well I wired my "new" yamaha golf cart today. I wired the batts that I got with the cart. when I took my meter to them they read either 5.46 some read 3 something. when I wired them in, only TWO batts read 5.46 and when I took my test light to them only two batts lit up the light. The cart did not move either.
I am JUNK when it comes to wiring so all help is welcome!

Thanks in advance!!

I am a little new to this but first thing is. Before wiring did you test the voltage on the batteries. You may need to charge each battery individually. Most car chargers have a six volt setting which I am assuming is what your batteries are. The other thing you may want to do is check the water level on the batteries also. The other thing that may help someone else is let us know if this is a 36 or 48 volt cart. I know my cart has a wiring diagram under the seat.
