36v vs 48v run time
I know this probably has been asked before but I searched and I can't find an answer.
I have the opportunity to go from 36v to 48v bateries at little to no cost. I would be replacing six 6v with six 8v. I know I would gain some speed and torque but how would it affect my run time? My T105's that I have now have a 5hr rate of 185 and a 20hr rate of 225. Trojan's site list the T860 with a 5hr of 125 and a 20hr of 150. I would love to go to 48v but not if I loose runtime. Thanks! |

I believe you will lose some run time.
I am sure Johnnyb will tell you how much soon.....20%? |

Re: 36v vs 48v run time
It sure looks that way from the hour ratings but I wanted to be sure.
I know eight 6v would be the better option but this was an easy straight swap with only having to come up with a charger and new solenoid. |

Re: 36v vs 48v run time
The 20Hr rate is typically used for comparisons between batteries, but battery weight is a good measure when voltages are different.
Six T-105 weigh 372 pounds. Six T-860 weigh 348 pounds. Also kWh is a good measure. 6 T-105 = 9.00 kWh 6 T-860 = 8.04 kWh Considering the price, it might be an idea to tolerate the shorter run time and battery life expectancy and go with T-890s when they have to be replaced. |

Re: 36v vs 48v run time
Use the T875, most common 8v with a 170 ah rate, Consider you will be spinning your 36v motor faster with higher voltage & lower amperage for the same task (load)... all things considered we tell people to expect about the same run time or miles per charge depending upon your driving habits.
hope this helps. http://www.trojanbattery.com/Products/T-8758V.aspx |
