Re: I think my controller is shot
Your motor will not have L terminals, ignore that.

Re: I think my controller is shot
Thanks for everyone's help.
I applied 12 V to the motor and the rear wheels spin normally. Everything else has checked out as good. Now I need to buy a new controller. I am leaning towards going with a stock controller, as I am not planning to do more than just tooling around the campgrounds and a few gentle trails. We do, however have a rear seat, so we can have four people at times. Will the stock controller suffice, or is there a real benefit to going with a 400 amp controller? |

Re: I think my controller is shot
First, let's put it into the proper prospective. A golf cart is designed to carry two golfers and two sets of golf clubs for 18 holes (5-6 Miles) over groomed trails and to a large degree, they consist of the least expensive components that will survive the warranty period. Stock batteries and stock motors are usually high quality, but everything in between those two exceptions needs to be upgraded, just to play golf.
The stock controller that is now a boat anchor, was probably 275A and if you drive with a gentle foot, a re-manufactured Curtis 1206 with a 300A or 350A rating might serve you well. Or a programmable 400A aftermarket can be turned down to fit your driving needs. The 13 year old 6Ga cables most likely need to be replaced with 4ga or heavier cables with sealed lugs. The stock F/R switch might be okay with just a new cam, if the stationary contacts aren't chewed up too badly. Hope this helps. |

Re: I think my controller is shot
Kudos go out to ScottyB at Carts Unlimited.
My cart is now running. I ordered package 101B from ScottyB at carts unlimited. Alltrax 400A controller, HD solenoid, and the HD FNR cam. I know I need to get the 4G wiring, and will probably be calling on ScottyB sometime next year for that. He provided excellent documentation and responded quickly when I had a question. The parts were packed good and the shipping was prompt. Thanks again to ScottyB, JohnnieB, and others on the forum. My wife is a happy camper again. LOL |
