Question making cart idle common?

I was just wondering if disconnecting the pedal kill switch and adjusting the idle screw to make the cart idle is common? Any disadvantages or things to worry about?

Unless you can get a low enough idle, it is hard on the transaxle when you shift from F - R and vice versa. You may need some kind of brake to stop the driven clutch from rotating.

It really isn't all that common, I only did it to be different from all of the other carts at the campground!

There aren't any "disadvantages" that I know of, but there may be some things to keep an eye on...

1) Don't let it idle too long.
2) If the idle is set too high, the cart will creep, and the drive belt will wear out faster.
3) Be careful when shifting if the engine RPM hasn't dropped to idle.

Ummm... That's all that I can think of!

The biggest problem I can think of is that the engine isn't reaaallllly running at a low idle. The starter/generator is still in starter mode. If you do this, verify voltage at the battery, both key off and not running and key on "idling". You want to see higher voltage while "idling" otherwise you are slowly killing the battery and wearing the S/G brushes.

I did mine with a simple SPST switch so I can have idle or not.
Keep an eye on the shifting as Lockman mentioned.

I have my G1 set so it will idle by disconnecting the black/white wire.I always had a pulsing when running slow and now i can cruise at low speed around campground smoothly and no pulsing.Seems to work well for me
