Re: Low speed problem
If you get a chance to post a picture, that would be great, but don't go to any extra trouble. I'll check the carb when I get a chance. I can't believe that being centered, my cable is that far out of adjustment. When you are in maintenance mode, does your throttle work correctly? Your clutches don't fly wide open (?) like mine, do they?

Re: Low speed problem
When I run my motor in maintenance mode, it runs just like it does when I drive it. No, my clutches do not immediately spool all the way out the way you say yours do. If I let off the gas and run the motor slower, the clutches respond accordingly.

Here's a video of my KF82 motor running in maintenance mode I posted awhile back for another member:

Re: Low speed problem
Thanks for the picture! Been caught up working on other stuff, but hopefully this weekend I'll get a chance to check my carb and cable adjustments. Thanks again.

Re: Low speed problem
No mention if the governor rod is in place. Usually when you get the jerkyness of off and on, the carb is opening before the limit switch engages. So basically, depressing the pedal moves the cable and rotates the switch cam thingy(?) and the switch needs to activate sooner. Y'all have the cable adjusted for max speed, so the only way to get the micro switch to activate is to very carefully bend the arm of the switch, IMO.....

Re: Low speed problem
I think you may be talking about the newer governors. Our pre-'92 governors don't have micro switches or cams on them. As far as I know it's just some kind of centrifugal mechanical actuator atop the gearbox that limits the throttle. There's no cable on the older carts, just a solid metal rod.

FWIW....
I was having the same issues while driving in parking lots etc. (My cart is my daily driver!) I went to the key on setup with the drive clutch upgrade spring. SOOOOOO much better. I can idle along at a snails pace without that start/stop jerky thing!! Well worth the upgrade. On the flip side, it's no longer pedal start! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD |
