Default bright lights then dim

2002 gas Club car question. When I begin running the cart, it appears to run normal. When running at night, the lights are bright. After a few minutes, the lights dim slightly and cart speeds up quite a bit. Do I have a rev limit problem. It doesn't operate this way all the time, just every now and then.

If regulator is robbing too much voltage due to high voltage output. What should the output voltage be?

You need to put a volt meter on the battery while you are riding it and see if the voltage is dropping while it is running.

Thanks for the reply. What is the normal operating voltage and have you seen this scenario before?

checked full speed battery voltage and hit +17 vdc. Once it dropped to 14ish vdc, it began to run normal. Voltage regulator?

17 volts back to the battery is too much. I'd be looking for 13.5 / 14.5 v at operating speed with the lights on. Assuming your not running a set of aircraft search lights on your cart I'd have to say the voltage regulator is bad.
