Is my motor burnt out?

I picked up a 1995 ezgo medalist off CL for $200. Guy said all it need was rear tires which were flat. The cart was dirty but looked pretty solid, lift kit, 20-11-8 tires. I got it home and realized the batteries were shot also so I replaced all six. Cart still wouldn't move but I could hear the solenoid clicking and the rear buzzer worked. I took a closer look and saw the speed controller was MELTED! Today I replaced the controller with a rebuilt unit from the local ezgo shop and it still won't go. I tried testing the motor using the steps described on this site and it won't turn at all. Is it possible the motor is toast also? This thing has been a headache. I think I'm still ahead but it's gonna be a brand new cart by the time I replace all this stuff. Any ideas, suggestions?

It's possible. Half of the times when the motor goes out it takes the controller out with it.... maybe that's how your got melted?

If you got a frame and a charger for $200 you got a great deal, even though you may have to put a little into it.
