Exclamation Newb Here

I have an 81 ezgo that runs very well. Has less than one year old Trojan Batteries. I have a question about solenoids..is there such a thing as a high performance solenoid? I have seen a few for sale that claim to increase speed...if this is true it seem that it would be the best bang for buck to make my cart go a little faster. Thanks in advance for the answers.I recently got the cart and it is a work in progress..so I attached a few pics. Also, I have only 50 bucks invested in it right now...should I put a lift, wheels and tires then try and sell or would I be better off trying to sell as is?

Welcome to BGW

Have you ever heard the old saying..."If it sounds to good to be true it probably is"....There is no such thing as a solenoid that will increase speed. I think what you are reffering to is called a shunt....sold on ebay. Simply put a shunt will destroy your motor. It will increase speed but fry your armature in the process.

There are high performance solenoids on the market such as a Czonka relay, White/Rodgers HD solenoids and a few others.

Your probly better off getting the cart running as is and selling it. By the time you lift it and put larger tires and wheels on it you may not get your investment back. It really depends on what kind of shape it is in and the buyer buying it.

Thanks for the reply, I figured that to be the case but, it never hurts to ask...The cart has nice torque from take off but, really seems to lose life going up hill..could this just be the motor being original from 81..lol...I have hardly any money(50 bucks) tied into this..I think I am going to sell and upgrade!

I have come a long ways since the first post. I sold the 82 and bought an 01 ezgo that I had a lot of fun with but sold a year after I bought it for more than I had in it...score!

Here it is

Now I have an 04 CC Precedent that I lifted, installed an amp, wet sounds speakers and a sub, LED lighting underneath, and a rear flip seat

lol@carts to posts

The radio has no issue being heard! It is a bit overkill but, can entertain a block party!
