Default Charger Tripping Breaker

Hello. I have a 94 electric club car. I bought this cart back in mid June 2014 and it has given me issues ever since. A few weeks ago I purchased new batteries. Once I got the new batteries in it, the cart would overheat and nearly catch on fire, no joke. So I took it to the shop to get looked at. They told me that I needed a new vglide, solenoid, resistor board, all new speed resistors, and new cables. Today I picked it up from the shop after getting some serious work done to it. The cart had a full battery when I picked it up so I am assuming that they charged it up. However, my charger at home is now tripping my breaker. It didn't trip my breaker before I took it to the shop. Can somebody tell me where to begin? I even unplugged everything in the garage that is one the breaker except for the charger and it is still tripping.

It may be that one of the batteries is wired in reverse polarity and is maxing out the charger, causing it to trip the breaker

I just checked the batteries and they appear to be wired correctly.

Just to clarify, it is the gfi that trips and not the breaker on the charger. That breaker does not trip.

Plug it in some where else and see if it works there, or trips the breaker. could be a bad GFI

I had a gfi in my shop go like that a few months ago. It would trip with very little load. Replaced it and all was well.

Well I plugged the charger into an outlet that does not have a gfi this morning for about 1 1/2 hours and it did not trip the breaker. However, the cord was really hot. I am guessing that this is not normal. Should the cord to the charger get that hot?

I don't think mine does. Sounds like something pulling a load in charger. I would open it and see what I could fine. Unplug it first.
