Yamaha G9 potbox, recommendation for controller to pair it with.
Yamaha G9 rebuild. I am removing all the old junk. Grabbed me a Curtis pb8.
Since I have stock motor. It's a series motor right? So what controller should I get. Thanks. |

Pb8? Is it 0-5k ohms? I have put alltrax spm in there before, worked nice.

Well. They make both Pb6 and Pb8. They both seem to be 0-5k ohms. One has 3 connector on it? Says can be run with 2 pin also....
Do you have a link to one. I'm sorry but there is alot of alltrax controllers. Just want to make sure were on same page for a stock Yamaha motor. I don't even know if mime is a series motor. Only guessing. |

Re: Yamaha G9 potbox, recommendation for controller to pair it with.
Its a series motor, no need to worry about field maps. Get a series controller, thats all you gotta worry about. Just dont buy a monster 700a controller, and expect a long happy life for a stock motor (i usually suggest a Alltrax 400a max AXE or SPM for stock motors). Yamahas carts were all "series" untill the G19 model. Im not too great at adding links on here using my phone, so just steer your internets over to www.cartsunlimited.net

A Curtis 1204- series controller would work also. PS-there's one in the for sale section.

I'm not expert.. But I just looked more into this motor. It off.. There's a A1 and A2 and F3 and F4... Man it sure looks like a shunt motor.... Maybe this motor is not stock! Now I'm lost. I'm pretty set with the pot box. But I'm lost on this controller.. |

Post a pic of the end of the motor that attaches to the axle. If it has a few turns of large wire, its series. If it has many turns of small wire (about the size of pencil lead) its sepex.
