Question 36v cart...max safe on-charge voltage??

1980 EZGO Marathon

I used the search feature here and couldn't find a definitive answer. A few days ago I put in a new set of batteries. Trying to figure out the safe max on-charge voltage for a 36v setup. I'm using an older Club Car automatic charger model #11340 (looks like a Lester) I've been using this charger for a couple of years and haven't had any problems. This evening it has been running for a while and measured pack voltage while charging and it's currently at 46.7 and the charger is still on. That being said, where do these chargers usually shut off? It has lights that gradually come on as the voltage increases (43,44,45,and 46). This is my first new pack of batteries I've had in a cart so I want to make sure I'm not roasting these things

Shouldn't go over 2.79VPC (Volts per Cell) or about 50V for a 36V pack.

I'm not familiar with the charge you describe, but those old ferroresonant transformer type charger typically shut off in the 45V to 46V range, so it might be malfunctioning.

Shown below are the Trojan Battery recommended charge voltages.

At 46.7 volts on a 36 volt pack, you should still be good as Trojan shows a finish charge of 48.6 volts.

Different makes of batteries should have similar charge requirements ... although they may vary a bit.

Edited the error in my post.

The "n't" I left off "should" makes a lot of difference.

If it makes any difference, the batteries I’m using are the SLIGC110 Duracell, made by Deka I believe.
