Default 2010 G29 Drive - Whining noise while not moving...

Newbie here... 3 month lurker first post.

I recently (May 2015) bought a 2010 Yamaha Drive 48V. The last couple of times out on the course there has been a noticeably louder whine before the motor cuts off. The motor gets going and then I stop and it whines for a few seconds and stops. I've noticed it clicking off but the whine is louder and new.

Any ideas what this is and it there a maintenance I can perform to curb any larger issue.

Thanks!

Charlie

Remove the rear access cover and try to determine if the sound is from the controller, motor, or solenoid.

Sounds like the solenoid humming.

Thanks for the quick response guys. I'll pop off the panel and give it a listen tonight. I would tend to agree with the solenoid suggestion.

Do you perform maintenance on a solenoid or just replace it? I found an article about checking it with a volt meter. It's still clicking for now...

Wanted to post this... I searched and searched before posting and finally used the word humming and you guys were already on top of it. This sounds like the same problem I was having:

[h t t p://w w w.buggiesgonewild.com/electric-yamaha/73025-2008-yamaha-g29-drive-humming-after-full-stop.html] Can't post a link for 7 days BS... Can someone repost for the next newbie.

I did come across this from smallblock450sl "If it bug's you, I might recommend changing it out to a high amp "White/Rodger's" style."

Can you guys confirm that this is what he was talking about: [h t t p ://w w w.fsip.biz/WhiteRodgersSolenoids.html]

Thanks!
