Re: 2011 Yamaha Elec Drive
Alarm sounds when pushed but no resistance? Sounds like a motor problem.

Re: 2011 Yamaha Elec Drive
I replaced my stock motor for a motor from Electrical Motor Products. If you are looking for more speed and/or torque give them a call. Very helpful over there. I spent about $500.

Re: 2011 Yamaha Elec Drive
Can motor only be replaced with something other than stock and still use stock controller for now? Just not ready to drop another grand on it right now after buying new batteries. But would still like a motor that would handle a good after market controller just at a later date.

Re: 2011 Yamaha Elec Drive
That's how I did it, and motor alone got me around 21-22 mph on flat asphalt and was completely stock other than that. I recently got an Alltrax xct400 from Scotty B and am now at 26-27. Apparently the stock controllers are pretty weak, but I was impressed with the improvement with motor on stock controller. Chuck at EMP is very knowledgable and will build your motor based on what you need. I highly recommend. ScottyB is a genius also.

Re: 2011 Yamaha Elec Drive
ScottyB is at Carts Unlimited on this site, and he can set you up with a great motor also. He took great care of me when I got the controller by programming the proper field map for my EMP motor prior to shipping it out. His his customer service is unmatched.

Re: 2011 Yamaha Elec Drive
The contact points under the brushes appear that an arch welder has been drug across them. Case was full of burnt black dust. I called several local rewind shops in Corpus Christi and none would mess with it just going by the description of what is see inside.
