Default Yamaha charger kicking on and off

I had an issue where I bought 6 new batteries, 2 of which were defective. I replaced the defective ones and attempted to charge them. The charger is a Yamaha 48v charger and it keeps kicking on all the lights light up and then just the green light, lights next to fully charged. I am getting 50v at the charge port and all the batteries range from 8.2 to 8.9 volts. This is due to the new batteries which were installed. Does the voltage need to be similar across all of the batteries in the series?

If it is one of these, or very similar looking, the charger is gone. Get a new one, or maybe Fsip can repair. There are no service parts or diagrams from yamaha, except for charge cord and ac cord.

I would suggest a charger from ScottyB's place. www.cartsunlimited.net . You will get a much better deal.

Mine was doing the same thing and it ended up being the plug on the end of the cord. Had a bad connection on the + wire. Look in the end of the plug and see if anything looks burnt or like it has gotten hot.

The plug was ok but I decided to do a little digging before spending a few hundred dollars on a new charger. I took the cover off of the charger and took a peak. The + connection inside the charger to the PCB was completely corroded off of the board. It must have made one heck of a spark when it finally separated because it was blackened. I cleaned the connection and replaced the connector at the end of the cable. So far so good, I just plugged it in for the second time and it is charging the batteries.
