Club Car 1987 DS -- No Go except when Choked
Hello,
I have a 1987 Club Car DS with engine problems. I first thought it was my fuel pump so I replaced all my gas lines and removed all of the old gas. It wouldn't pump gas until I replaced the hose from the crankcase. After this, it pumped gas all over the place so I concluded my pump was fine I also replaced the spark plug and charged the battery (12.61 volts). When I test drove it, it has no "go" unless I hold the choke all the way in. I noticed the air box (?) would collapse from the suction. So I tried to slowly release the choke to let in just a little bit more air. The spring on the choke does not allow me to do this. It either is fully closed and you hear a noticeable "sucking" noise or the choke pops open from tension of the spring and it immediately dies. I am unable to get it to run without my hand on the choke to try and limit the air intake. It would run "fairly" well for a little bit then seem to die out. Does anyone have any ideas? What should my next step be? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, El-Grasso "The grass is always greener on the other side " |

You either have a high speed jet clogged in the carb or clogged muffler.
Clean the carb and try it and then remove muffler and see if it is any better. |

you should have 2 fuel filters on it one from the tank to the pump and one right before the carb........if you do and they are the small white ones check them also........if they arn,t the issue i would take the carb off and give it a good cleaning and go over all the jets............run a peice of wire thur holes in jets and blow out with a compressor.........also use carb cleaner and run thur all ports/openings...............................
