I want to put on a K&N air filter but how do I "Choke" it?
I have a 1990 something motor in a 1987 cart. You can see the 1987 factory choke in the lower right corner of the pic.

The K&N #33-2022 filter replaces your existing filter, in your existing airbox!
The choke problem solved! You may want to get a new carb jet, one size larger from Tom @ Cart Parts Plus, He'll know which one you'll need! Your cart will run alot better with a larger jet and the filter together! |

(unless Tom has another idea!) I have the 33-2022 with a larger jet... the thing runs perfect, and fast! Plus... I have a choke! I have heard of someone that used a rag to cover the uni-filter to choke it... but, it sure sounded like a PIA just to get her running! my .02 |

Re: I want to put on a K&N air filter but how do I "Choke" it?
the other problem lockman, i am guessing, is that he doesn't have the stock air box from the 90 something motor. the intake set up on those older carts used the round filters.
so he has nothing to work with currently?? -Aaron |

Re: I want to put on a K&N air filter but how do I "Choke" it?
sorry i stand corrected again...
there seem to be quite a few running the drop in with NO problems. after all it is only a 9 horse motor. that is the same air filter as a 4 cy car uses so i think it will be ok -Aaron |

I was thinking the box would cause undo air restriction. Easier air flow is more power and speed. IDK as I'm new to carts and small engines. |
