Default wont stay in reverse,

hello, everyone, my 99 carryall keeps jumping out of reverse! i have searched the forum and it sounds like it may be some bad spacer rings or the brass syncronizers! does this sound right? it works fine in forward and if you hold the handle it will stay in reverse! also does anyone have a schmatic of the box so i can take a look at it before i tear it apart? any pic,s will help thanks george.

Here is a link to exploded view type diagrams:

I have a carryall also and I notice that the cable has a 90 degree steel sleeve where it attaches to a plastic bracket that is bolted to the transaxle. I have noticed that the bracket is twisting and causing the cable to deflect which makes reverse more difficult to engage. You can tilt your bed up and watch the action as you shift from n to r and see if it is simply a cable issue.

Good luck!

You can try a cable adjustment to see if that helps but, don't hold your breath on this one ..... kicking out of reverse gear is not usually a cable problem in the gas Carryalls.

NO. It is a transaxle so you will need to remove the transaxle and split the case..... it is not a project for the average enthusiast.... I would ask around about this one a bit more.
