Wheel Bearings
I have a 1984 Club Car. Sounds like the bearings are bad in the back. How do you gain access to them? I can't get the plate off that holds the wheel studs.
Any help appreciated. Thank You. |

Re: Wheel Bearings
There is a tricky C clip inside the axle tube behind the plate the holds the studs. It takes a good pair of 90 degree C snap ring pliers to remove it then the axle slides out... Be darn careful you put it back correctly OR THE AXLE & WHEEL MAY COME OUT WHILE OPERATING, CAUSING DEATH.

Re: Wheel Bearings
Thank you for the info & help. What a stupid set up they have done.. Just pull it straight out then? Probably have to mark it then when I take it off.
Thanks again. |

Re: Wheel Bearings
Actually it works quite well. It is a sealed bearing and seal . Just you need to be oh so sure the C ring snaps into place when reassembling..... or have a qualified tech do it?

Re: Wheel Bearings
and make sur you dont over strech the c clip. it will be loose when you try to install. if it turns after install. and you know that it properly seated in the groove, not the shaft then you need new clips.

Re: Wheel Bearings
Do the wheel bearings in the rear normally go bad? They are making some grinding noise, not to bad though. Seems kinda load when you are moving in it.
