Default won't start in Reverse,

Being new to a CC gasser(2004) I can't figure why it wont start when in REV. I have to start in Fwd. then switch to Rev.Also on a few occasions I have to hit the gas peddle a couple of times to start in Fwd. Do I have a faulty Micro??Or is it a safety thing for not starting in Rev.??

Several possibilities dcannow. It could be that the reverse micro switch is going bad due to splashed contacts or it may be poor adjustment of the shifter linkage. Regarding your "hit the gas pedal a few times" comment, first off check that the SG belt is nice and tight and not worn out, this is fairly common. Either of those conditions will allow the belt to spin without turning the motor until it gets hot and grabs the motor pulley. ( I need to adjust mine) Another possibility is worn or sticking brushes in the SG
Your final question re reverse safety. No. There is no lock out preventing a reverse start situation. My cart is parked in a shed at the golf course and by necessity I have to reverse it out every time I play. I would have calf muscles akin to a weight lifter if I had to physically drag it out every day.
Hope that helps you some and have a great Christmas

Default Re: won't start in Reverse,

Stinger-Thanks for the info. I am going to change out the reverse micro as it is an easy fix to try. When starting in Fwd. as soon as it starts I go to neutral then to reverse while engine is still turning over. Seems to work everytime but a pain in the #ss. SG belt seems tight but looks glazed so will clean it real good & see if that helps as well
And a Merry Merry to you as well.
