won't start warm
I have a 1986 gas Yamaha G1. A lot of work just done on it, crank seals, new carb, reed valve, spark plug, filter air and fuel. Runs like a new one when you first start it, after you stop, will not start unless you are facing down hill or you keep the accelerator to the floor and keep cranking. any steps to take is greatly appreciated!! I will check all recommendations and report the results!!! Thanks!

Re: won't start warm
Take your muffler off and build a nice fire and put it in there after years of use the muffler's fill up with gunk and unburt oil and partially clog... When it's in the fire it flame out both ends of the muffler and cleans it out check the thread in the stickies above

Re: won't start warm
its possible just trying to rule the simple stuff out...have out done a compression test? if its above 120 psi that would confirm a plugged muffler

Re: won't start warm
When its warmed up and you try to start it what happens? Does the Starter/Generator turn fast? Is the coil getting hot? We need to know exactly what is happening when you try starting it hot.

Re: won't start warm
update on the stuff you wanted me to do. compression is 115 or 118 psi with the muffler on and off. I bbq the muffler and it just smoked at ends, no flame? put it back together and ran ok, had to feather the choke to make it run good until I stopped. It takes 30 seconds to a minute to restart with pedal to floor!! Runs ok at slow and full throttle until you stop again??? Engine is 170 degrees coil at 132 degrees and muffler is 163 degrees???? What can I do next???
