Default Installing piston rings G16

Putting in some new rings. Engine ran great but smoked.

Having a heck of a time getting the rings in. I have a generic ring compressor but it continues to allow the oil ring to catch before going in the cylinder.

I tried a hose clamp but the area where the worm gear is keeps the clamp at an angle and allows the ring to pop out also.

Any suggestions/tricks?

Thanks!
