Default G16 piston and rings replacing

my g16 is smoking and losing compression and i need to change the rings and piston. would it be easier to replace them with the motor in the cart or take it out, would it be better to just buy and rebuilt engine and swap them out, do i need to replace the head and jug and all ??? any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated

thanks

Take the engine out, it's easy. Can reuse the head. The jug is not replaceable. If you get an oversize piston, the cylinder will have to be bored to match piston.

If you've never rebuilt engines before, it would be easier to buy a rebuilt engine, but not sure you'll find one ready to go. I'd call Don Plowman. You can probably send him your engine and he'll rebuild it and send it back. Shipping on that engine is around $100, just shipped one yesterday.

If you know how to build an engine then you're good to go, do what CG said.

At the top of your page there is a button called "Site Sponsors". Plowman's Carts is one of them.
