Default Choke cable too short?

Broke my throttle cable on a stick this weekend in the woods. After looking online to order another, I thought back to my choke cable issue.

If I pull the screw end thro the seat bottom and tighten the retainer screw down, after riding it gets pulled out. Not all the way but enough that its stripped the plastic and wont tighten. Looks like a new cable is only 12" length.

Cart has a 4" lift from previous owner.
