My '99 runs about 27-28 mph before the RPM regulator kicks in. Did you do the old zip-tie trick on the governor spring?

That doesn't sound really scientific Clubber, what that does is adjust your point of engagement between the gas pedal and starting point. Bigger tires will in theory give you a higher top speed but you will need to have the necessary HP to get it past certain factors; these being, wind resistance,(drag), weight and rolling resistance. I could launch into a lengthy diatribe here but you can google it easily enough. Suffice to say, a larger rolling diameter wheel set should (in theory) give you more top speed but if you lack ultimate HP you can forget about it since the weight and wind resistance will provide exponential drag. As an example; I once chipped a Ford Cosworth Sapphire to 550 HP from it's original 250 HP. The intermediate times were vastly improved but top speed increased by only 10 MPH. DRAG IS YOUR ENEMY. Adjust your rear end governor and you should see at least a 5 MPH improvement but don't expect much more from the asthmatic engine you are running right now.
