Angry 2004 TXT Acceleration Hesitation???

My '04 EZ GO TXT with a 295 has some acceleration issues...when you give it moderate throttle when rolling at a slow speed, it want to fall on its face before it takes off. It has about a 2-3 second hesitation. The throttle cable and gov. are adjusted correctly (as far as I know), I was wondering if there is any carb adjustments I should be looking for? The only thing I see is an adjuster with a black cap (not sure where it is supposed to be adjusted to. Right now the arrow is pointed straight ahead). A riveted metal plate covers the rest of the carb. Could it be a carb adjustment problem, or something else?

Anybody??? I'm going crazy. Additional details, I previously adjusted the throttle cable to get some more speed and a quicker response. No hesitation when I do that, BUT the dang thing backfires and smells rich. Guessing because the throttle plate wasn't closing all the way. Now it's back stock and causes hesitation...

Digging up my old post hoping to get a response. This problem is so annoying. So, this last winter: oil and filter change, new NGK plugs, air filter, fuel filter, adjusted valves, removed and cleaned carb...still bogs down on acceleration. Only when the motor is hot! Plate on carb is fully closed when off the throttle, messed with the screw with a black cap on top of the carb, nothing. So confused.

When you cleaned the carb did you dip it or just clean it out? I usually take a stripped down bread tie to every hole I can find. It sounds like a plugged jet.

Man, I soaked it. I guess, it still could be plugged.

yeah, soaking it won't get the jets clean - You need to pull all of them one at a time and thoroughly clean all the holes, etc as well as the passages in the carb - best to get a can of aerosol carb cleaner with the long tube, that comes in handy to blow all the passages clean as well as the jets, main tube, etc (wear safety glasses though, the stuff will spray back at You and is a real TREAT when it gets in your eyes, trust me)

+1 on what BrewCity says. I use old guitar strings and compressed air, to clean the small passageways in the carbs. Good luck and let us know how you come out.

And some of those passages can be small. I think the bread tie will work on that carb but I had one one a friends go cart Chinese 150 where I had to take a piece of 12 ga stranded wire and use just one strand. You could barely see the hole..

So, is this broke now or what? Took the carb off to clean it, this adjuster falls off. Can't get it back on.
