Re: G14 Clutch Rebuild
If either are very worn, putting performance parts without doing all the bushings and weights if needed is gonna cost you even more later than it will to do it right this time. That being said, after i got my bushings (front), and sliding sheave w/ bushings (rear), i only added a Umax spring and an Erlandson HD belt (also "forgot" the white plastic washer on the rear). It does plenty fine for me on all hills that a 9.6hp golf cart should be trying to climb.

Re: G14 Clutch Rebuild
Ok, so am I rebuilding the front or putting a new spring in the rear. From what I read your motor will over rev when the weights go bad, that is not the case. Since putting the lift and bigger tires on it it does not like to get going up a hill from a stop. Does that mean I can fix this problem with just replacing the spring in the secondary clutch? Or is it possible that both are just worn out and need to be rebuilt.

Re: G14 Clutch Rebuild
Inspect the primary to make sure nothing is obviously worn or broken. You will need a torque spring from someone for the secondary, and replace the ramp shoes if they are worn. Plowmans has a secondary kit, or you could use a Yamaha U-Max spring. A severe duty double cogged belt helped mine when it was stock...

Re: G14 Clutch Rebuild
Hey CG what is the part number for the primary clutch bushing for my 96 G14 ? Mine has a tad play in it . I should have replaced it when I did the rebuild but didn't . My manual doesn't show it. I have found on several places for a G14 but have got two different numbers . One is 9034-28197 listed for a G2,8,9,14. Another is 90384-27823 listed for G2-G22. Is there two required for the clutch or just one ?

Re: G14 Clutch Rebuild
Dave, could you do me a favor. I know about the secondary spring. I found the primary rebuild kit on ebay. I think my secondary is my problem do you know a part number for the ramp shoes? Im guessing they are part of the secondary. I will do the secondary spring first and try that. Worst case scenario once I get the cart back to camp if I have to pull the primary clutch I can and bring it home and rebuild it on the bench at home.

Re: G14 Clutch Rebuild
Bama, the ones I got from Block were finger joined, instead of just butted up end to end. (stronger) I tapped them in with a half inch extension (rounded off end) But If you put a large washer over the bushing and tap on that, you won't bur the edges of the bush, and then you won't have to ream them to fit, as much as I did anyway!! I clearanced mine so the sheave fit with no slack. Now the second the solenoid trips, the clutch kicks you in the butt!! and your movin!! If I ever get a new motor, its gonna be neat!! When you get to this point, put the washer over the bushing and tap on that!

Re: G14 Clutch Rebuild
I actually only order 1 bushing part number. I will just give you the part numbers for the bushings and seals
90384-27823 bushing 93101-28831 seal I think these are right, they should match the numbers you are finding. They will work. I must have been doing this too long, those numbers came from my memory. |

Re: G14 Clutch Rebuild
Thanks for the numbers. Yours was one of the ones I had come up with. One more question ... does it require 2 bushings or just one ??
