To really figure out what is going on with your cart, we would need to know what the total pack voltage is, and the individual batteries. Since its a DS I assume it has 6- 8 volt batteries, what brand batteries are they?

Also I found out the batteries are 2012 based on the stamp on the lead. Is 4 years a reasonable life for batteries?

lol they were rode hard and put up wet, 2 years more like 3-4. there is probably at least 1 or 2 bad batteries in the pack. I know it's crazy to say just by a picture, but it's worth a thousand words!

4 years is not reasonable but you will definitely notice performance issues. that being said some people have them a long time. I would say replace every 2 years or so if able

Default Sudden power loss / weak batteries

My 8v US batteries are from 2010 and just died completely about 3 months ago. They owe me nothing and I'd replace with same in a heart beat. And I know mine were not cared for as some of the cells water level were below the plates when I bought my cart with these batteries. So I was happy they lasted as long as they did.

lol wow sounds like you took care of them or your just lucky or both. where I work we get so many people that destroy batteries within the first year, I just replaced a set today in fact because they did not manage the water level. In almost 7 years you did not even have to replace 1 or 2?

Default Sudden power loss / weak batteries

I bought the cart bone stock early last summer and the batteries had some cells low on water. So the batteries were already 5 years old. I kept them topped off and drove and recharged them often. They came back to life some and gave me a 6th year of good service with no issues. But then in about a months time range dropped off significantly. But I can't complain as I bought the cart assuming it would need batteries right away...
